A few things for summer…

Guess what…? Summer is coming. It’s pitta season. It’s hot and wet or dry, sharp, intense… and so are we during the summer. And since preparation is our best friend when it comes to being happy and healthy, here are some ideas for cooling the heat and creating inner balance all summer long….

Try some cool food… something like…

Summer Rolls with Baked Tofu and Sweet-and-Savory Dipping Sauce

Also… Enjoy infused water

Take around 6 cups of fresh filtered water

  1.  Add your chosen ingredients to it.

  2.  Let it infuse for a couple of hours in the fridge.

  3. Enjoy!

 My faves are:

  •  Cucumber, mint, and lime (the same number of cucumber and lime slices, use fresh mint leaves if you’ve got them)

  •  Cinnamon and ginger (best to use cinnamon sticks, 2 or 3 of them, and fresh ginger slices)

  •  Raspberry, rose, vanilla water (frozen raspberries work well with this, fresh or dried rose petals and 1 vanilla bean)

Enjoy these calm activities…

  • Spend time near the water

  • Take a walk outside, take it slow, notice, and enjoy the way the air feels on your skin.

  • Yin Yoga baby – Take a calming yin class. It can open you up in ways you’ve never imagined!

Calming words to cool your mind…

  • “Being relaxed, at peace with yourself, confident, emotionally neutral loose, and free-floating – these are the keys to successful performance in almost everything.” – Wayne W. Dyer

  • “One cool judgment is worth a thousand hasty counsels. The thing to do is to supply light and not heat.” – Woodrow T. Wilson

  • “Remain calm in every situation because peace equals power.” – Joyce Meyer

Okay so now I want to hear about your favorite cooling summer activities. What do you do to say cool, calm, and collected all summer? Share, share, share, in the comments below!

Oh, and p.s, if you’re wondering about the last segment of our “3 Pillars of Life” series… Sex, it’s coming up in the future (I’m planning to interview an expert to include with that post – so watch for it!).

Bea Rue

Freelance Web & Graphic Designer

Recently I began taking inventory of my life, recognizing the shifts I could make to lessen my personal consumption and impact. Since we spend a quarter of our lives working, that was certainly an area demanding attention. So I left retail and begin my career freelancing for small businesses whose higher purpose transcends profit.

I believe in employing my skills and energy to empower others working to create positive change in our world. I support too-swamped entrepreneurs by breathing life into their brands and websites, allowing them to focus on the important work at hand. At the same time, I get to nurture my own entrepreneurial spirit while being creative and building truly meaningful relationships throughout my community.

I strive to inform, delight and inspire by balancing content with design. I consider the details without losing sight of the big picture. I aim to see around corners while staying focused on the moment. I'm self directed but have over a decade of experience successfully working with teams. And while I've surely got bills to pay, I know it's my social responsibility to be selective about where I put my energy.
